Another Blog, Cool, but Why?

Over 14 years ago I have started to write articles for my first blog (that does not exist anymore 🙏). I haven't given much thought to copyright, design or content back then. I basically treated blog as something we would describe as Twitter or Facebook nowadays. I just posted whatever I thought was cool and available to be used. I might have to add that I was a clueless clicker. Except, to be completely honest, copyright was just a meaningless fancy word to me at the time and so I went on to post extravaganza of images that were not mine, shamelessly copied others content and so on. The internet used to be much more permissive wild west back then. Somehow I don't miss it though as there is way more magic that we can do as web developers nowadays. So let's never look back and get to what this initial post is all about.

So why?

I have been doing front-end for a living for a while now. And there's been one aspect of web development that has been bugging me ever since I started playing around with it. The thing is that I keep doing the same mistakes over and over, forgetting a particular technique and perpetually relearning it over and over. So I thought to myself:
How do other developers solve this kind of problems?
And the answer is:
They write a blog.
Or they simply share their findings with others by writing it down. So why that helps exactly? There is an overwhelming evidence that trying to learn something is best done by trying to clearly explaining the subject to others.
I believe that the best way to learn anything is to try to teach it to others.
Only if you are able to explain it well, you (might) truly understand it. Also putting thoughts to writing enables me to tame my monkey mind.

Summary

There would be 3 reasons for this blog. First (sort off selfish) would be that I make my own database of what has worked for me that I can reference. Hopefully I can understand my explanations after some time 😄. The second reason is to share my findings with others, possibly getting feedback, critique or a ☕ if particular solutions helps you. The third is that I don't want to just give away the rights to something that I wrote to someone else (I am looking at you Medium).
